MFNERC Annual Science Fair

This March 2025, MFNERC celebrated the organization’s Annual Science Fair, where over 170 students from 16 different schools joined to showcase their scientific investigations. This was an exciting event that showcased the variety of scientific studies completed by students. Of the 16 participating schools, 5 were MFNSS schools, including Dakota Tipi School, Lake St Martin School, Lawrence Sinclair Memorial School, Miskooseepi School, and Seargent Tommy Prince School.
On the first day of the fair, students arrived to set up their science presentations and enjoy some free time to take part in other activities, such as robot demonstrations led by Michael Li and John McLean and drone flights led by Rockford McKay. Grand Entry incorporated the MFNERC Heritage fair, which took place in the adjacent ballroom in the same venue, where students marched in protocol with their respective schools.
Day two of the event included a gallery walk where students could learn from the many science projects showcased. After tough decisions, MFNERC judges selected three young scientists to participate in the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
MFNERC and MFNSS congratulate the following students:
Demarcus Boulanger from Bloodvein First Nation – "This Walking Stick is Batty"
Cassidy & Mariah Traverse from Fisher River – "Testing the Antimicrobial Properties of Cedar"
Xacchary Juni from God’s Lake Narrows – "Seeing Beyond Sight: Building a Smart Blind Stick"
